Ten years ago there was almost like a small cheap laptop. Sure, you can find many laptops at cheap prices. And you can find some small models like the Toshiba Libretto line. But netbooks to the scene in 2007, which almost choose between cheap and small was affected.
In the spring of 2014, net-books are a distant memory as PC makers push tablets, laptops, and other new devices smart watches.
But the legacy of the netbook is still alive: you want a small and cheap laptop? No problem. Most major PC manufacturers offer at least one device that fits perfectly.
Here are 10 modern Windows laptops with screens 11.6 inches or smaller price tags of $400 or less.
Note that this list is not complete or Chromebooks that come with Linux laptops. But bargain hunters can often even better deals on mini laptops by a model that comes with Chrome OS or Ubuntu.
10-inch laptops and convertible
- Asus Transformer Book T100 $399
The transformer is a device carrying T100 2 in 1, which can be used as a tablet or a laptop. The processor, memory, battery and all the other bits are important in the part of the tablet, but the system is provided with a keyboard, which effectively switches to a 10-inch notebook tablet provided.

- Gateway LT41p - $330
(Owned by Acer) Gateway provides a laptop with 10-inch touch screen LT41P call that comes in different versions. While the list price between $330 and $400, you can often find this model for much less.
The laptop has an Intel Celeron processor N2805 that is based on the same technology as the Bay Trail Atom chip in the Asus Transformer T100 book, but should offer better performance as standard .

11.6 - inch laptops
- Asus Vivo Book X200/Q200 - $ 300ish
Asus has offered a number of handsets with touch screen Windows with 11.6- inch screens since late 2012. It's a bit difficult to keep track of all the different models, as they sometimes sold as Vivo Facebook X200, Q200, F200 and S200 series.

- Asus K200MA - $329
At first glance, this laptop is very similar to the above models. But it is a new laptop with a dual-core Intel Celeron N2815 Bay Trail - based technology.
The laptop has a screen of 1366 x 768 pixels, a 500GB hard drive and USB 3.0. It has a 3000mAh battery.
Please note that B & H says the laptop has 2GB of RAM, but most other retailers say it comes with 4 GB.
The Asus K200MA measures 1.2 inches thick and weighs 2.6 pounds.
- Acer Aspire V5 - about $350 or more
Acer V5 is another model that comes in a variety of configurations. I saw models with Intel Celeron and AMD A4 or A6 processor. There are even models that come with Linux instead of Windows.
One of the most common configurations now has an Intel Celeron processor 1017U, the Windows 8 software, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB of storage. Another has an AMD A4 -1250, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB of storage.
Both models sell 768-pixel touch screen for about $ 350 in the 11.6-inch, 1366 x and weighs about 3 pounds, more or less.
- Dell Inspiron 11 3000 - $379
Dell was one of the first players in the netbook space, and while the company is not all that meet the definition of netbooks currently can offer to sell this laptop dell laptop affordable.

AMD A4- model tends for $ 419 for sale, but you can choose the less powerful model for about $399.
- HP Pavilion Touch 11 - $399

HP promises up to 4.5 hours of battery life, which is less than stellar for a tablet, but not bad for a laptop of this price. especially one that also has a tablet mode.
